Hello MAS Parents,
We’re getting excited about the 2nd Annual Metro Academic Studies Spring Formal! An email has been sent out to the senior high students but we want to also inform the parents of the details:
What: Metro Academic Studies Spring Formal
When: Saturday, May 10th, 6:00-11:00 p.m.
Where: The Lodge at Windermere, 4444 Front 9 Drive, Cumming, GA 30041
Who: MAS Senior High Students (age 14 by August 1st, 2013)
Cost: $25 per student (cash or check made payable to Shiela Catanzarite; register and pay by May 1st on a Monday or Wednesday at MAS)
Attire: Formal (long gowns for girls and suit or tuxedo for guys- the theme is fire and ice so red, gold, orange, yellow, white, silver, light blue are preferred colors)
Further details:
The formal is going to be held at the Lodge at Windermere, our subdivision’s clubhouse. It’s a beautiful facility surrounded by the playground, tennis courts, and swimming pools. The event is going to be a fully chaperoned evening of food, music, dancing, and socializing. Dads will be stationed at the entrance to the Lodge the entire evening for security purposes. Though Windermere has neighborhood watch police on duty monitoring the area, they will not be providing specific security for the dance itself. Students will be required to sign in and sign out when they are leaving the dance for the evening and will NOT be allowed to leave and re-enter during the event.
There will be finger type foods available but nothing substantial enough to qualify as dinner. Dates are not required but are welcome. Dates do not need to be home schooled but must be between the ages of 14 and 20.
The ladies’ gowns should be tasteful with appropriate necklines and slits. We ask that no excessive cleavage be revealed or backless dresses below the hipbone be worn. The preferred colors mentioned are only requests to add to the theme of the evening. Please do not feel the need to purchase new attire if a previously owned dress is not one of the preferred colors.
The Dancin’ Grits will deejay the evening and will provide two instructors to teach basic swing steps at the beginning of the dance. Song choices will be clean and comparable to last year’s music. We are asking that ONLY parents who are chaperones attend the event. This is to ensure the students have fun without feeling they are being supervised by their parents. Please be assured we have a safe and special evening planned for your teens~one in which they can have fun and socialize in an appropriate environment.
Please feel free to email me with any further questions or concerns.
Thanks!
